Suddenly stopped working

Postby hbk540 on Wed Mar 10, 2010 11:52 am

Well, let me start by saying that I attend VCU in Richmond, VA. The university port blocks pretty much every online game and I play a plethora of them, so I was bored to tears down here until about three weeks ago when a friend of mine discovered your site and recommended it to me. When I downloaded the program and paid for three months of services, everything worked and I had WoW back, and it was sweet. It's worked great for the past 3 weeks.

I played for a few hours last night but had to call it a night because the regular Tuesday maintenance was about to begin. I woke up this morning, went to my classes, and got home at about 5 PM. When I open WoW tunnels v1.2 now, and click "Launch WoW", it does one of two things. It either brings up the login screen and then proceeds not to connect, or it gives me an error message that looks like this:

ERROR #132 (0x85100084) Fatal Exception
Program: C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at 0023:72121BD4

Let me also say that in the status box on the tunnel program, both putty AND world of warcraft are marked as "Active" IN GREEN TEXT.

Please help!!!

I have been using this service for about 2 months now and it has worked great because the college i attend like the person who posted above blocks everything. I have had no issues with this at all and now, all of a sudden, it allows me to pick a server, however, it gets stuck at connecting.

ok so I tried to manually install putty and freecap, following the instructions provided. Everything was going according to plan, but when I clicked on the warcraft icon in freecap, lo and behold, "wow-3.3.2.11403-to-3.3.3-enUS-patch" needs to be downloaded by the blizzard downloaded! Of course, this can't be downloaded directly from the site, and I also can't download it from my laptop because I'm behind a firewall and that's why I'm tunneling in the first place. I need to figure out how to download this file.

Can you try manually with Putty and Freecap? Instructions are here: http://www.wowtunnels.com/instructions_manual
Let me know if Putty fails to connect or pops an error.

I think that patch is just a preloader file for the upcoming 3.3.3 patch. You should still be able to play currently. When 3.3.3 comes out you should download the patch from a patch mirror (e.g. http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors)
Edit: Actually wowwiki has the part1 of 3.3.3 preload up there already.

Well what a shitty day. Got out of class at 4 pm and started messing with this. It's now 4:39 am. We've done literally everything, including the manual login attempt with putty and freecap. Following along with the video instructions you provide, we followed every step, and every step worked perfectly, but when we would try to log into warcraft through freecap after logging into putty and seeing the welcome screen, it would just say "connecting" for a little while, and eventually say unable to connect. I just don't understand how it could work for three weeks and then all of a sudden stop working completely.

I'm curious on why it suddenly stopped working too. You're using the manual method now correct? If you select a server in the Putty server list, then click "Load". After that click on SSH > Tunnels on the left hand navigation pane, do you see an entry for D1080? I've attached a screenshot.

It stops working for me too. I have been using this for the last 2 months and all was fine until today. Besides I just moved to a new raiding guild and today is the first day for me to do a guild raid. >< Please fix it soon before they kick me out of the guild.

Yes, MKL, i do see "D1080" in the box. Under destination, "Local" and "Auto" are also filled in as well. In fact, when I press open, the Putty prompt box comes up where I enter my user name and password, and when it recieves that information it gives me the welcome screen. I then open warcraft through freecap and it fails to connect.

I found something interesting that might help you find out how to fix this problem !!
After I log in with Putty-->freecap--> and then it comes up with log in page for WoW. In password filling box, when I fill it with a wrong password, the server still understand that it s a wrong password.(this can be assumed that the connection to the server is still working) But when I fill it with the correct one , after several seconds of connecting, a box saying "unable to connect" appears. This is very strange.
